Currambine Family Practice was opened in response to the growing need in the northern suburbs for exceptional patient-centred and personalised general practice care. Our sister practice, Ocean Keys Family Practice has been open for more than 7 years. Under the direction of Dr Timothy Koh and Dr Derrick Kuan, the practice has expanded to offer the full range of general practice services. We have a staff of expert general practitioners assisted by highly trained practice nurses and general practice staff. The practice remains doctor owned and operated and as a result is not subject to influence from outside corporate interests. We are proud of what we have achieved, however have always understood that what has been achieved has comes about as a result of the solid working partnership with our patients.

The underlying philosophy for our practice has always been an uncompromising commitment to the highest ethical and clinical standards in general practice. In considering our treatment of our patients, we have the following principles which we aim to guide our actions.

Clinical Standards– Our doctors seek to maintain and improve their clinical skills so that treatment recommendations are as appropriate as possible. With respect to this we maintain a weekly clinical meeting and participate in the quality assurance and continuing professional development program (QA&CPD).

Education– As part of our service to our community, we feel it is our duty to be involved with educating the next generation of general practitioners. We have been heavily involved in general practice teaching at all levels from medical students to pre-vocational doctors to general practice trainees. We feel that this constantly brings new ideas and approaches which enrich the care of our patients. This has been reflected in our being awarded the WAGPET Training practice of the year 2011. An accolade which is unprecedented for such a new practice.

Respect for the individual – We realise that the best outcomes have always come about as a result of a partnership with the most important person involved in your care – you.

Continual improvement – We use our medical records to audit our performance against benchmarks. We believe our role in teaching the next generation of general practitioners improves the standard of care that we offer our patients. We are constantly innovating with our clinical and non-clinical practices to serve our patients better. In addition, we seek feedback from our patients, staff and associates. Currambine Family Practice works hard to be a fully accredited general practice, meeting the RACGP’s Standards of General Practice 3rd Edition.

Teamwork – We understand that there are things that we cannot do and as a result we maintain a close working relationship with many local resources including child health centres, child development clinics, allied health practitioners, government services, specialists, mental health services and community resources.

Professionalism – We aim to uphold the highest level of professionalism in dealing with our patients. We are committed to maintaining confidentiality so that you can be assured that you can confide in us no matter what the problem.

Currambine Family Practice are proud to be an AGPAL accredited practice. Accreditation for AGPAL is voluntary but is your assurance of a high standard of quality and performance which is independently assessed to Royal Australian College of General Practitioners(RACGP) standards. The practice is committed to continuously meeting standards in order to maintain a high level of safety and quality.
